Pre-marital Counseling

So it’s been a while, but there hasn’t been much to post. Rachel’s been reading through wedding books, but there isn’t much that has changed.

Well I guess that’s no longer the case. We just started pre-marital counseling. Last Friday was our first session with a nice counselor in Somerset. I’ll say that it went well, but it was only the first session and we didn’t really get into much.

It was fun talking about all of the great things we think about each other. Let’s see how it goes when she starts asking the tough questions.

The funniest thing about the counseling is people’s opinion of it. Most people question why we’re going since it isn’t some sort of requirement. We both tend to think it’s a good idea, but who knows. I couldn’t imagine it will hurt.

Whatever I guess.

Have you ever done pre-marital counseling? Leave a comment and let me know how that worked for you.

Thanks.

  1. George and I have been going to counseling and I think it is a great idea. Good for you! Counseling can only strengthen your relationship and your commitment to each other. So many people rush into marriage without thinking a lot of things through or knowing their partner’s views on important things (like how many kids you want to have). It contributes to the high divorce rate.
